THE DAGUPAN Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) has called on to chieftains in all 31 villages in the city to form Barangay Fire Volunteer Brigade (BFVB) in their respective communities.

The call forms part of the annual celebration of Fire Prevention Month this March.

The move is designed to strengthen the force of the Dagupan BFP in order to make it more effective and fast in responding to calls to put off fire in any part of the city.

According to the BFP, the proposed BFVB shall be composed of members of the Sangguniang Barangay (SB), Sangguniang Kabataan (SK), Civilian Volunteer Organizations (CVOs) and villagers who have knowledge in life-saving during emergency and calamities.

BFP Chief Fire Inspector Romualdo Mina said the call for the establishment of BFVBs is in line with the provisions of Presidential Decree Number 1185 also known as the Fire Code of the

Philippines.

When the BFVBS are ready, it shall be designated at frontliners in responding to incidents of fire in any part of the city.

Mina said the creation of BFVBs particularly in the island barangays, would serve as a great help to the BFP in responding to calls for rescue.

Meanwhile, Mina made clear that although the BFP is busy in its campaign to form BFVBs in the villages, the agency also sees to it that its force is ready to respond to any eventuality that calls for its intervention.
