THE OPERATIONS of the Dagupan City Police Station (DCPS) will soon be independent from that of the Pangasinan Police Provincial Office (PPPO).

Thus, said Supt. Dionisio Borromeo, head of the DCPS.

Borromeo also said the DCPS will be named Dagupan City Police Office (DCPO). The renaming is considered as an upgrading from a police station into a police office I.

He added the DCPO will be receiving orders directly from the Philippine National Police (PNP) Region I office based in

San Fernando

City, La Union.

The change, according to Borromeo is as good as a done deal because the PNP national headquarters in

Camp

Crame has already considered the application for a change submitted by the DCPS.

Supt. Isagani Nerez, head of the PPPO said he will support the change applied for by the DCPS.

Nerez said that like the police office in

Baguio

City, that in

Dagupan

City need to hire additional policemen.

Funds to support the hiring will be coming from the national command and no longer from the provincial command.

Likewise, all policemen working for the DCPO will receive gasoline allowance also from the national command.

The conversion will be an advantage for the police force in Dagupan just like that in highly urbanized cities like Baguio and

Davao, Borromeo said.
