Jesli Lapus Ordered Class Suspension on Metro and other areas

Classes in elementary and high school levels in Metro Manila and other areas are suspended on Monday due to Typhoon Frank (international codename Fengshen), the Department of Education announced over Pangasinan Today.
Education Secretary Jesli Lapus suspended the classes in private and public elementary and high schools in Metro Manila and the provinces of Cavite, Rizal, Batangas, Bulacan, Pampanga, Zambales, Bataan, Tarlac, La union, Benguet, Ilocos and Pangasinan.
According to NDCC (National Disaster Coordinating Council) Executive Director Anthony Golez, a further announcement will be made 11 pm Sunday regarding classes in the college level.
Golez told dzMM that his agency and CHED (Commission on Higher Education) will base their announcement on weather bureau PAGASA’s latest report about the typhoon.
Weather bureau PAGASA said the typhoon has maximum sustained winds of 120 kilometers per hour near the center and gustiness of up to 150 kph. It was moving north northwest at 15 kph as of 10 a.m. on Sunday.
By Sunday night, Typhoon Frank is expected to exit the western coast of Central Luzon. It is projected to be 100 km west of Vigan, Ilocos Sur by Monday morning and 300 km west northwest of Basco, Batanes by Tuesday morning.
By Wednesday morning, it is expected to be 470 km north northwest of Basco, Batanes.
Typhoon Frank will continue to strengthen the southwest monsoon and bring rains over the western sections of Southern Luzon, Visayas and Mindanao, which may trigger flashfloods and landslides, the weather bureau added.
