LINGAYEN — A police official said the slaying of San Quintin Councilor Albert Sibayan is solved, with the filing of murder cases against the seven suspects in the crime, including an Army soldier.
Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) provincial director Jonel Estomo said the case was filed with the Provincial Prosecutor’s Office in Tayug, Pangasinan last August 7.
Among those charged were Army Lieutenant Roselio Cabarliz, Sibayan’s former wife Charo Romero and five still unidentified suspects.
The councilor was shot dead in Barangay Alac, San Quintin on July 1. He was waiting for someone along the highway in the barangay when two motorcycle-riding men repeatedly fired at him.
The Pangasinan Councilors League condemned the killing and asked for the speedy resolution of the case.
Sibayan was the third councilor in the province killed in less than a year. The other two were Binalonan Councilor Igmedio and Alcala Councilor Juan Ablao.
Lariosa was shot dead on July 12, 2008 while Ablao was killed on October 22, 2007.
